1.4 gig is plenty of space.
Run diagnostics against your Active Directory domain.
If you don't have the tools installed, install them from your server install
disk.
d:\support\tools\setup.exe
Run dcdiag, netdiag and repadmin in verbose mode.
-> DCDIAG /V /C /D /E /s:yourdcname > c:\dcdiag.log
-> netdiag.exe /v > c:\netdiag.log (On each dc)
-> repadmin.exe /showrepl dc* /verbose /all /intersite > c:\repl.txt
**Note: Using the /E switch in dcdiag will run diagnostics against ALL dc's
in the forest. If you have significant numbers of DC's this test could
generate significant detail and take a long time. You also want to take
into account slow links to dc's will also add to the testing time.
If you download a gui script I wrote it should be simple to set and run
(DCDiag and NetDiag). It also has the option to run individual tests
without having to learn all the switch options. The details will be output
in notepad text files that pop up automagically.
The script is located in the download section on my website at
http://www.pbbergs.com
Just select both dcdiag and netdiag make sure verbose is set. (Leave the
default settings for dcdiag as set when selected)
When complete search for fail, error and warning messages.

Hi,
We have just over 1.4GB free on the C drive.
It is our intention to set this up as a domain controller eventually which
is why we have run the ADPREP.
There are no error messages in either of the event logs.
Many Thanks
Clive

As long as you are only trying to join the 2003 R2 member server to the
domain you shouldn't need to do an adprep. If you are attempting to do a
dcpromo of the 2003 R2 machine then you have to make sure you ran the
adprep
from disk 2 of the R2 disk.
I would recommend that you clean up your system/boot partition before you
attempt to do anything else. You can get all sorts of odd messages if
you
don't have enough free space. This probably isn't the problem but you
never
know.
Are you getting any error messages in the event logs of any of the
machines
in question?

Hi,
I am trying to add a Windows 2003 R2 server to a Windows 2000 Domain (1
Domain controller which only has SP2 installed) and I get the following
error
message:
The account is not authorized to log in from this station
I am using this domain administrator account when I try to add the
server
into the domain.
The same also happens if I try and open a network share on the Windows
2000
server and use the domain administrator to login. I have also tried
with
another user which has Domain Admin rights and is also a memeber of the
Administrators group, but I get the same error message.
I can't see any permission problems with any of the accounts in AD or
any
problems with the local security policy either.
I have run the ADPREP commands on the Windows 2000 server, since the
idea
is
to eventually migrate everything over to the Windows 2003 R2 server.
The
ADPREP commands worked just fine.
I have a free space problem on the c drive so if I do not need to
install
SP3 or SP4 then that would be best.
Is this a known problem with Windows 2000 severs running SP2 or is this
a
problem with the Windows 2003 R2 server or something else?
Many Thanks
Clive
