We have just over 1.4GB free on the C drive.
It is our intention to set this up as a domain controller eventually which
is why we have run the ADPREP.

There are no error messages in either of the event logs.

I would recommend that you clean up your system/boot partition before you
attempt to do anything else. You can get all sorts of odd messages if you
don't have enough free space. This probably isn't the problem but you never
know.

Are you getting any error messages in the event logs of any of the machines
in question?

I am using this domain administrator account when I try to add the server

I can't see any permission problems with any of the accounts in AD or any
problems with the local security policy either.

I have run the ADPREP commands on the Windows 2000 server, since the idea
is
to eventually migrate everything over to the Windows 2003 R2 server. The
ADPREP commands worked just fine.

I have a free space problem on the c drive so if I do not need to install
SP3 or SP4 then that would be best.

Is this a known problem with Windows 2000 severs running SP2 or is this a
problem with the Windows 2003 R2 server or something else?
