We are using WSUS to manage windows updates and usinig GPO to
control
how
it deploys. For workstation it can happen at mid-night, however, for
laptops
we have to set it to happen during the office hours.
I've noticed that everytime when new windows updates are available
for
downloading/installing the laptops performs poorly - no responses to
mouse
clicking and sometimes even can't start task manager. I set a laptop
for
testing that uses "notify to download and notify to install". The
laptop
functions fine until "windows updates are available for downloading"
appears - once I started downloading windows updates the laptop lost
responding till the downloading completing.
My questions are:
1. is this normal?
2. is there any options in WSUS that can set downloading updates
using
less
resources? Or is there any tricks in the GPO settings to do this?
Thanks in advance,

.
