Re: Disable Group Policy Remotely

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

With the release Microsoft's newest acquisition "GPOVault from Desktop
Standard you should be able to do this. But unfortunately it isn't part of
a built in product so there is a cost to it. Desktop Standard really helped
gpo management, hopefully Microsoft will bring the cost down since this
product is fantastic in doing reg fixes via gpo (This piece is free).

There is a road show out in the field on this new set of features
Look it up on the Microsoft website

We have configured a group policy that turns off the user's ability to
change
the firewall settings from within control panel across our network. The
firewall control panel is visible but it is grayed out. The firewall is
currently turned off and grayed out. I am wondering if there is a way to
override this setting while the computers are off the network. The
computers
are in our remote offices and we want to turn the firewall on.
We can remote control the computers via Gotomeeting. I am open to other
ideas including emailing the user a script of some kind that will modify
their settings. For right now we want to make it so that the user can turn
on/off as needed in case of conflicts with websites they need to go or
apps
that need access through the firewall. Any help or redirection would be
gratefully appreciated.
