Re: Splitting a child domain in Win2K3 AD

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

I'm a little confused. It sounds like you have a plan and you're asking if
there is a better way? A way to split the domain?
If that's the case, most likely the answer is no. In order to split the
domain off and make it functional, you'd have to include the root domain as
well. Not to mention the cleansing of accounts and such to prevent any cross
over.

Did I get the question wrong?

Dear folks,

We have one (empty) root domain and 6 child domains with Exch 2K3.
Part of
the business that makes up one child domain is being sold.

To split the child domain, we are planning to install a fresh new
domain in
a brand new forest and migrate certain users, computers and group
accounts
into the new domain using ADMT. New Exchange orgranization will be
created
and exchange data will be moved using ExMerge. The remainder of the
child
domain will be cleaned up.

Is there any other way to split the child domain and Exchange data?
Any
pitfalls or suggestions? Thank you all.
