Just to be sure the one is working properly before I take the other down,
and again for a learning experience.

Pull the network cable or shutdown the first DC to test the other.

Before you do that make sure that both DCs are GCs and that both
are running DNS, probably AD Integrated DNS for your zone which
supports your AD.


You can not logon to a special DC if you have more than one running. Why
will you specify the logon server?

He indicated he wanted to test the other to make sure he has fault
tolerance.

BTW, you can SPECIFY the DC after logon by using NLTest to redirect
the secure channel from one DC to another.
