Re: ADPrep question

Yes, it should be fine.

The link which I have given in the previous reply has the steps for
upgrading to/introducing Windows Server 2003 Domain Controllers.

Hi,

Yes the forest already holds domains with Windows 2003 in.

I'll run adprep on the domain on the 2000 domain (and on the infrastructure
holding role one inparticular) and then this will allow me to promote a 2003
DC to this domain.

I'm promoting a Win 2003 box to be an extra DC for a domain that is 2000 so
not upgrading any as such. I will eventually demote then in a week or so
though leaving the 2000 only box.

Hopefully i can just run adprep then promote the DC without worrying about
anything on that link?

Thanks.

Do all the domains belong to the same forest?

If yes, then the forest is already prepared to hold Windows Server 2003
domain controllers (because you mentioned you have Windows Server 2003
domains already). Now you have to run adprep /domainprep on the
infrastructure master domain controller of the domain in which you gonna
introduce/promote Windows Server 2003 Domain Controllers.

Please refer to the below URL for more details on upgrading Windows 2000
domain controllers to Windows Server 2003 domain controllers:

Hi,

I want to install and promote a new 2003 DC in a domain. It currently has
2
Win 2000 DCs in it.
Trying to promote it says run adprep.

Am i right in saying i don't need to run forest prep? We already have
another domain (well 2 more) that are all Win2003.

Do i just need to run adprep on my main DC in the 2000 domain - the one
that
holds infrastructure role.
How long to wait before promoting the new one as well? And when can i
make
it a GC also?

Thanks
