Yes,

The clients are all pointing to the same DNS that is working for the
other clients. As far as domain membership I am referring to what the
clients show in system, computername. None of the systems reflecting
the old name will register DNS, sync time etc. Until I manually from
the client join them to the fqdn domain name, then everything works
perfectly.
