Thank you very much for help.
I'm probably going to just reinstall from scratch. At this point, I've
uninstalled/reinstalled and reconfigured about everything. I'd rather
reformat and try again just to ensure that I've got a stable platform to
build on.
I'll keep these tools hand, though.
I appreciate your assistance.

disk.
d:\support\tools\setup.exe
Run dcdiag, netdiag and repadmin in verbose mode.
-> DCDIAG /V /C /D /E /s:yourdcname > c:\dcdiag.log
-> netdiag.exe /v > c:\netdiag.log (On each dc)
-> repadmin.exe /showrepl dc* /verbose /all /intersite > c:\repl.txt
**Note: Using the /E switch in dcdiag will run diagnostics against ALL dc's
in the forest. If you have significant numbers of DC's this test could
generate significant detail and take a long time. You also want to take
into account slow links to dc's will also add to the testing time.
If you download a gui script I wrote it should be simple to set and run
(DCDiag and NetDiag). It also has the option to run individual tests
without having to learn all the switch options. The details will be output
in notepad text files that pop up automagically.
The script is located in the download section on my website at
http://www.pbbergs.com
Just select both dcdiag and netdiag make sure verbose is set. (Leave the
default settings for dcdiag as set when selected)
When complete search for fail, error and warning messages.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm unable to run either dcdiag or netdiag either
on
the PCs or Server. They are not valid commands.
Do I need a plug in or some sort?
Thanks.

Likely it's just the roaming profiles + performance issue of some sort or
a
problem with network connectivity from the sound of it.
Consider running dcdiag (open a command line, type dcdiag /v, press
return)
and netdiag (same same). Also check the event logs, especially the
system
logs and identify any issues that show up.
Those would be the places I'd start.

I'm not an IT person by trade, but have assumed the role at the private
school where I teach.
I've built a 13 PC lab that's served by an older Dell PowerEdge. I've
installed Win 2003 Server with the following services: DHCP, DNS, WINS,
File
and Print Server, Active Directory, Terminal Server License, and
Terminal
Server Manager (or somesuch). Roaming profiles with redirected folders
are
enabled.
All of the PCs are running XP Pro and are on my domain.
When students log in, they sometimes cannot connect. Either the error
"Cannot find Domain" is given or there profile can't be found. They try
again
on the same or different computer, then they can.
I've just today installed the terminal services features and actived my
15
additional CALs (connections to server, and not device/user). That did
not
fix the issue.
I'm stuck.
Do I need to invesitgate DNS problems? Are my permissions for the
Active
Directory/Shared folders for the roaming profiles permissions nixed?
Active
Directory not installed properly? Or is it still a CAL issue?
Additional stuff: The DNS, DHCP, and WINS services should be ok. I say
this
because all computers get served IP addresses and we're able to connect
to
the internet. I've GPO working and am able to do basic features such
as
restrict applications and limit user interventions.
I'm sorry that I'm unable to volunteer more details as I don't know the
lingo.
Thanks.
