Hello myweb,
So by default the first installed DC holds all FSMO roles. Normally the second has none of them, except you change it by hand. Here is some Info about it:

Make it a Global catalog. Open AD Sites and services, go to your
servers, NTDS Settings, General Properties and Check Global catalog.

Hi all,
I am administrator of a Domain running Active Directory on two
Win2003
Servers. Somehow People cant login if our first DC is turned off (the
one we installed one year before our second was installed).
I thought the advantage of Active Directory is, that there is no more
something like PDC/BDC.
Anyway I read something with root DC or secondary DC. Is that true
that
there's still a difference?
How can I verify that users can log in when just the second DC is
turned on?
