I know this is a newsgroup for SBS2003 but I am hoping someone has
previous experience with SBS2000, plus I cannot find a "high activity"
newsgroup for SBS2000.

Actually this is not an SBS group at all but we will try to help anyway.

It is an Active Directory group, focusing mostly on the full product and
primarily on Win2003 servers (but 2000 is fine here too.)

We are using SBS2000 and it is a Domain
Controller. We periodically reboot our server (once a month) and had
to recently for a problem related to Internet access that turned out
to be unrelated to the server -it was a router issue. We tried to
login with the Administrator account like we usually do and the
password would not work. We verified the keyboard was working
correctly, tried to do it remotely, and the password would not work.
We tried 2 other user accounts that are part of the Domain
Administrators group and neither would work. We also tried an account
we setup in case this happened, and it did not work.

Sounds very much like someone had CHANGED your password. THE
Admin password cannot be locked out due to bad password attempts,
and you tried multiple accounts.

We think there is a problem with our password being accepted for any
user. What can we do or try to resolve this.

What does that mean? "For any user"?

A password is specific to a specific user, the admin in your example.

1. Should we be able to login to the server with another user account
that is a member of the Domain Admins?

Yes -- Only if it is an Administrator (not necesassarily the ADMIN) or
one of the "powerful" groups like Server Operators etc.

2. If not, then somehow the password for the Administrator is corrupt
or wrong. What can we do in either case? Thanks

Crack your own accounts database. Easiest would be to just change
the password on your OTHER DC -- everyone should have at least
two DCs but this is an unfortunate limitation of SBS, and one of the
reasons I will not recommend the product.

Restoring System State backup is another choice.

You can search Google for cracking tools, or visit Insecure.Org which
has many (safe) links to them.
