Windows 2003. How is loopback applied vs. 2000 where there was actually an
option that said 'enable loopback'

thanks

Hello all,

Setting up a new citrix environment. I am using HIDECALC but am having
trouble determing the best way to handle this. This policy works against
the user so I either have to link this policy to the OU in which the
user/s reside or drop the users into the OU in which the policy is
applied. This would work fine except for the fact that I have clients
that use BOTH A thin client and a fat client, or a fat client AND
published server desktop depending. So if I apply this policy against a
user that has a fat client but also uses a published desktop I will be
blocking the drive letter from their desktop as well as the Citrix and TS
servers. Which I obviously dont want do.

I have been trying to use groups against this policy to include only
those I want to have this drive hide apply for but that dosent seem to
work either.

Groups WILL work but I don't think it will solve you specific problem --
i.e., having the SAME user both need the GPO sometimes and NOT need
it at others.

Loopback processing is the canonical solution to your issue. You set the
policy on the COMPUTER OU (even though it is a User-set of policy)
but you arrange to pick it through LOOPBACK (probably Merge Mode).

It might take a bit more hacking but this will get you close.
