Hi,
I'm in the process of creating a placeholder domain (Sitename.com) to
allow
me to share and trust Mexico (MX.Sitename.com) and Europe
(EU.Sitename.Com)
Active Directory. So that we have one point of management for Active
Directory throughout the world. My first step was upgrading the Network to
handle it.
Domains are generally separate management scopes (certainly for Group
Policy which does NOT inherit from parent to child domains) -- such
will not give you a central point of management as one domai would do.
You may need separate domains for some other reason, but this is not
likely a good reason.
As to creating the Domain (forest root or tree root) as the parent, just
do a DCPromo and create a new forest or new tree within a forest with
the name SiteName.com -- that is a poor choice of name probably but
using your example.
So now I need a step by step on how add the placeholder domain
(Sitename.com) to allow me to share and trust the other Active
Directories.
DCPromo 2 DCs (one extra for fault tolerance.)
You probably need help with your Domain/Forest design and might consider
hiring a consultant.
