I've though about this. I can build a 2kdc here at my location and do this
but I have four domain that need this and that would take a bit of time.
So none of the DCs are local with you? If they were, you could merely
transer the role.

Probably a silly question but can I copy adprep.exe from the cd to a
remote
infrastructure manager server and while remoting that server run adprep
/domainprep? Or is the cd needed because adprep needs other files on
the
cd?
You could also transfer the Infrastructure Master to your current DC,
do the ADPrep /domainprep and later transfer it back if desired.
(In a single domain forest there is no issue with IM and GC being on the
same DC and in such single domain forests every DC should be a GC
anyway.)
