thanx

i actually thought of this solution, even tried it but couldn't
remember the name right - it was given automatically and never took the
time or needed to remember it - and so thought it shouldn't work, not
that i didn't give it right

The "net" commands are worth learning (most of them) and once you
can remember the command name (net) you can always hit "net /?" to
see the list and the docs.

'well never hurts for this info to be available out there on the net
for searches. as far as i could work my way, this specific case "domain
to nondomain" was not documented.

It's not really thought of that way by those of use who use it regularly
is part of the reason -- doesn't mean you could predict the actual
terms used, but it does mean your seaches were subject to "guessing"
terminology used by someone else who was unfamiliar with it too.

Normally it would be called (something like) "using a share with
explicit authentication". Or "using a share from another domain".

It might as easily have been "one domain to a differen domain" (without
trusts).

It's just one of those things were minimizing the MINIMUM is worth
doing, i.e., "net use" but at least "net" as a command.

in the very communist philosophy that this becomes: let it benefit the
community for the future!

Communist philosophy? Odd use of the term.
