if the computer is member of an Active Directory-Domain you can use Group
Policies. Here you are able to configure Startup and Shutdown-Scripts for
the Computer Account, and Logon and Logoff-Scripts for the Useraccount.

To make sure I understand the suggestion, you want the user's login script
to have condition logic that tests for login to the specific computer, and
that starts the application only if that condition is true?

Logoff scripts don't seem to meet the second part of my requirement. I
want the termination of the application to force the logoff.
