Great! This information is invaluable. Thanks Jorge.
When using RoboCopy should I select all of the options listed below for
Copy
File Information?
D- file Data?
S- file Security (NTFS ACSs)?
A- file Attributes?
T- filr TimeStamp?
O- Ownership?
U- file aUditing information?
Also, will this utility work for migrating files from a Novell file
server?
The Novell server resides on a Windows 2003 Domain. (a different network).
Thanks,
Louis-

transfering files and folders with permissions can be done with ROBOCOPY
to copy shares with share perms: copy reg key and

make sure the paths are the same!

Hi everyone,
I have to migrate documents files from an NT4 server to windows 2003
native
mode domain. The NT server resides on a windows 2000 domain which was
recently changed to native mode. The users account where successfully
migrated/copied to the Windows 2003 domain along with the group
membership.
The chanllenge now is migrating the files to 2003 and maintaining the
ACL's
for all users and files. Any suggestions on how to make this transition
without impacting the users once they are migrated to 2003? I do have a
bi-directional trust relationship between both forests and I have
tried
using File migration utility but have failed in the process witht
errors.
Any
suggestions?
All suggestions and comments are greatly appreciated.
