Hi
so this user account that the application is using is an ADAM user
and you change the password for the user on the ADAM instance
and then re-enter the password for that user in the application and
the bind fails?
Have you tried binding to the ADAM instance using the user and
password details using ldp.exe as a test?
When you say that you cannot bind as any other user I guess you must
be able to bind as an ADAM administrator as you are doing that to change
the password of the ADAM user account?

After reading this again, I see that I do need to clarify :)
I have created a mock AD environment for one of our NOC's. I set up
the domain using ADAM and imported the user list. Now, I have an
appliance pointed at the server sending LDAP requests. I set up a login
(local to the ADAM server) and password on the appliance so it can
authenticate. It will send a request and expects an address back in
return. All of this is working right now. However, there is a very
strong need to the password of the ADAM user.
In the ADAM instace (using ADSI Edit) I can change the password of the
Adam (use this name for simplicity sake) account. Then when I check
for authentication from the appliance side, I get "bind error". I also
can not log in as any other user and see the properties of the ADAM
instance. I get a superior reference error when trying to do so.

I assume we're talking about a Windows principal here, and not an ADAM
principal. If so, then you simply change the password as normal (ctrl +
alt
+ del in a domain, or control userpasswords on a stand-alone box). You
don't need to do anything to ADAM.
If you're talking about an ADAM principal that's a little different.
Please
clarify.
