Re: R2 deploying printers in GPOs

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

The Deployed Printers node is only shown when the PMC is installed

using the server with R2 or the PMC you should be able to create printer
connections and deploy them

We have a network with two DCs, one running 2003 SP1 and one running
2003 R2. R2 includes the Group Policy deployment of printers feature.

Only R2 has the right ADM files to show the Deployed Printers option in
the GPMC, SP1 doesn't.

If I edit the GPO in R2 and set up a printer to deploy, it doesn't get
deployed in the GPO. The log for PushPrinterConnections.exe when run
says there is no printer deployment object in the GPO.

Is this because the SP1 server is actually pushing the GPO down to the
client and doesn't recognise the Deploy Printers GPO?

Does SP1 need a new ADM file or is it simply not possible to use the
Deploy Printers GPO in this scenario?
