I do not want to install DNS in the child
domain.
You've got me really curious as to the reason why you don't want DNS in the
child domain?

Thanks for your reply. I have read the article you mentioned, but as you
realize my setup is different. I do not want to install DNS in the child
domain.

You must have a DC in the child domain, why not install DNS on it?

Hi,
My current setup has 2 AD DCs and both are running AD-integrated DNS
i.e.
2
DCs for contoso.com running DNS. So all servers in this environment
have
these DNS servers listed as Pri and Sec. I need to add a Child domain
in
this setup. I would like the Child domain (and its servers) to use the
parent DNS servers i.e. the DC and servers in chi1.contoso.com will use
the
same Pri and Sec DNS servers as of contoso.com. The child will not run
any
DNS of its own.
In order to setup this environ (adding the child domain), do I need to
create a FW Lookup zone in the parent DC (contoso.com) for the child OR
do
I
just dcpromo a child server and point the DNS to the parent?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
jatdesi
