Keep in mind in a single domain forest the IM serves no purpose and IM and
GC can reside on the same box.

It's Correct Lincoln,You should not Place GC and Inftrastructure on the
same
server except you have AD on the single server or All Dcs have GC too on
the
doamin else the Infrastructure Master role will not work correctly.

There is a word of caution regarding potential conflicts between the
infrastructure master and the Global Catalog. In environments where more
than
one domain controller exists, the Global Catalog should not be hosted on a
controller that also hosts the infrastructure master. Because the
infrastructure master compares its data with the Global Catalog, there may
be
significant replication impacts, and full replication may fail. In
particular, outdated information will not be seen. The exception to this
rule
about separating the Global Catalog and the infrastructure master is an
environment where every domain controller retains a copy of the GC.

Yes As the machines are from the same same domain they must point to the
same DNS server in the Enterprise.

I just migrated from NT to Win2k3 and have a couple of questions. I now
have
the following:
-2 Win2k3 DC's
-2 NT BDC's (from the migration, will eventually retire these)

1. One DC will be a fileserver, the other will run Exchange2k3. All the
roles are currently on the FS except for the infrastr master. I tried to
transfer the infrastructure master but got a warning stating that this
should
not be done because it is a global catalog. Should all the FSMO roles
reside
on one server?

2. Is it recommended to point the NT servers to my DNS such as I do with
the
Win2k3 servers? I think so but just want another opinion.

Thanks!
