Hi all-
I came across some posts here on how to let users know that their
domain password is expiring, and wanted to post some info that will
help anyone finding themselves in this type of support situation..
I am a long-time Windows, Exchange and security professional and
recently got together with a developer friend of mine to put together
specific tools that address specific domain-administrative problems-
One of them being "how the heck do I alert my users that their password
will expire??"
Yes, you can script this, and if you are an extremely savvy admin then
by all means go for it! That's what I have been doing for years. But
what about the sys admins who manage an AD environment but do not have
the time or expertise to script? I have an easy software solution that
may be of some good help.
We just released a new tool called Password Reminder PRO that alerts
users via email of expiring domain passwords, and also lets you easily
audit status of all your NT user accounts across the domain from one
screen. It also sends you a daily admin summary and the email reminders
are HTML-customizeable. It is in Beta right now and free for download
with no catch. We are SE's who make software for SE's.
I have been using this tool for some time with my past consulting
customers with great success, and now it is packaged up with a decent
UI and service automation, and anyone can easily install it. Runs on
..NET 1.1 and uses very little resources.
Anyway, fwiw stop by the site link below and take a look- If you like
it give it a spin, if you need help or have questions feel fee to email
anytime.
Thanks and happy holidays,
Kurt Lewis
