Re: Schema Owner

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi
If I understand you right, you only had a DC, no backups, and you lost the Disk?
Correct?
If yes you lost everything.
Next time do the backups.

maybe you can help me with my Schema Owner problem, which is:

I had only one DC in my domain
The system hard drive on the DC failed
I did not have a backup
I recreated the domain on another server
I run DCDIAG and everything is OK, except for a warning that the schema
owner is the server that failed, and no longer exists.
I try to transfer the schema master role using NTDSUTIL, and get the
following error statement

fsmo maintenance: transfer schema master

ldap_modify_sW error 0x32(50 (Insufficient Rights).

Ldap extended error message is 00002098: SecErr: DSID-03151D7D, problem 4003
(INSUFF_ACCESS_RIGHTS), data 0 Win32 error returned is 0x2098(Insufficient
access rights to perform the operation.)

Depending on the error code this may indicate a connection, ldap, or role
transfer error.

Server "fairy-dust" knows about 5 roles
