Re: Merging Active Directory Domains

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

the impact of renaming a domain depends on what is in the domain and its
size and deployment.

also check if a migration of both domains to a new domain has less impact

Hello,
I'll try to make this as simple as possible! We have 1 W2K domain (native
mode) with approx 100 users, with 5 DC's spread out across a global WAN,
with
extensive use of group policy. We've been taken over by a company with an
AD
domain running on a single Windows 2003 DC (with the forest & domain at
W2K
native) with approx 50 users and minimal use of Group Policy. The ultimate
aim is to have just 1 domain for the entire organisation. The "new"
domain
will also need a new name. Would it be best to upgrade our existing 100+
user domain (with all the group policies) to Windows 2003, rename the
domain
and then import the users from the smaller domain? Does anyone have any
tips, gotcha's or advise as to the best way to achive the single domain in
this scenario? Thanks!
