If the servers are dead, I don't see any problem with that, did you also manually removed the servers from Active Directory sites and services?

We run some auditing software which queries all the DC's for login details
etc. It appears however that the software is picking up two DC's that died
and were removed using the normally procedures. This causes the software to
hang. The only info that I can find in AD referring to these two dead DC's is
within DNS. The entries are as follow:-
(same as parent folder) Host(A) IP address
This entries are in two locations, one in the root of the domain and also in
the folder _msdcs\gc.
Is it safe to remove these entries?
