Re: Timeline for the adprep /forest or /domain to run? Any impact?..

DaMoose,

I think that this question is asked 10 times a day...please do not
misunderstand this....

When you ran adprep /forestprep did you use the correct CD? You have to use
CD2 of the Windows Server 2003 R2 set. Once you do this there should be no
problems. BTW - you probably do not need to run adprep /domainprep...

But, that answer completely depends on how many Domain Controllers you have,
how many Sites you have, network connection speed, Intersite Replication
schedule, etc....

Hi there I receive an error message when trying to add a new DC via
dcpromo
with Win2003 R2 to current domain with Win2003 R1 mixed mode.

"The version of the Active directory schema of the source forest is not
compatible with the version of Active Directory on this computer."

So I need to run adprep /forest or adprep /domain or both on the live
Win2003 R1? Then I run the adprep on the R2 server.

How long does this take?.. Could I run it during office hours, lunch time
preferred.

Thank you.
