I hope someone can help me and prevent me pulling what little hair I have
left out.
I am running Windows Server 2003 with a mixture of XP and 2000 Pro
clients.
I have an MSI file that I want to deploy to all workstations.
I have set up a GPO to assign this software.
Assign to computer or user (top half or bottom half of GPO)?
On the 2000 machines, it shows that managed software is being installed
when
the PC boots up, but it doesn't get installed. On the XP machines, there
is
no indication that anything has been installed at all.
Does the MSI install (by default) with NO user interaction?
If not you will need to create an MST to go with the MSI.
MST(ransform) files transform the options for MSI installs
to select what you chose and to avoid the prompts.
I cannot see what I am doing wrong, please help!!!
You might also have an authentication problem or
a permission problem on the file share.
What permissions are on the SHARE and the NTFS files
that must be installed? (If you are assigning to the computer
then the COMPUTER account must be included for at least
read on both.)
Does GPResult (/z for zuper verbose) list that the correct
GPO and settings are being applied?
