You will need to join the laptop users / comp to the domain. For one, they
will need to authenticate to your AD envirionment to access internal
resources. Secondly, they will have their profile settings, especially if
they are using roaming profiles. Third, any security settings that you are
applying to the domain users will propagate to your remote users making your
environment safer. You can use the RRAS server with radius proxy to control
your remote user login. The remote users can use VPN settings and then log
into the RRAS box which inturn authenticate remote users with a DC in your
environment.

Hello,
Im implementing a big AD installation which will be working in
different locations. The pc`s are added to the domain without any
problem but what about the laptops? What kind of policy do you use with
them?
For example now Im changing their first dns to the local and second to
the outside dns server because they travel with the laptops. Do you
think adding them to the domain is worth? Or should I just leave them
as they are?
Also I want the laptos to be able to find my domain server so they can
share files to do this as I said I put 1 st dns local and 2sn outside
dns ip addresss.Putting a ptr to the outside domain is secure enough?
What are your experiences in this?
Thank you.
