We want to create a template user account; the problem is when we copy
the
account not all the fields are copied over to the new account.
I have tried to edit the schema in Active Directory but with no luck; i
have
also change the registry settings so that the Schema Update Allowed are
set
to 1.
[I am not convinced that you have a reason for changing the
schema but don't know that the opposite is true either...]
In any case, three things have to be true to change the Schema:
1) Be a Schema Admin (member of the group which is empty
by default, but which Enterprise Admins control)
2) Connect to the Schema Master
3) Enable changes
(You should reverse these when finished, i.e., disable changes and
remove yourself from the group.)
On the technet web site they suggest i must right click on the Active
Directory Schema then select Operations Master and select The Schema
may
be
modified on this server; there is no such a command or button. The
section
we
need to edit is grey'd out and i can not activate it.
What type of "edit" are you trying to actually make...
We are running Windows server2003 standard edition
Not relevant.

Many ThanksHi Herb
There is a setting that enable you to change 'Arrtribute is copied when
duplicating a user'; most of the arrtributes are grey out; example the
description attribute. I would like to enable it so if we use the copy
user
account option in AD it will also copy the description field in the user
account.
