Re: Site links and replication

Hi!

If you have another WAN link available then you should create another site
link to reflect your WAN topology.

It is NOT necessary to make replication work, only if you
wish to change the Schedule or Frequency on that other path.

With the default transitive Site Links, they will continue to
replicate 'across' the missing Site as long as there is a network
pathway available.

And, yes, you should set cost to your link high for a low bandwidth link.

That part makes sense -- IF you actually create
the extra (probably extraneous) SiteLink.

With transitivity, the 'virtual' SiteLink will always
be higher than either of the components that comprise
it.

A high cost link gets lower priority. A lower priority link is normally
used if there are more than one link to the same location. You can change
replication schedule as well.

And frequency, but these latter two are the only reason for adding
the extra SiteLink in the simple three Site situation.

T. Uranjek

Sorry what I meant is in the event the link between Central Office -
Branch Office fails, I still have the secondary link which goes from
Central Office to Sub Branch Office.

Provided I have transitive link enabled I still get replication between
Central Office - Sub Branch Office - Branch Office.

This assumes I have another WAN link between Sub Branch and Central
Office.
