If the user's using the machines log into a domain you can set up a logon script that tries to identify the OS (say with the OS Env Var) and if it determines the machine is Win9x sends an email or writes something to a shared folder somewhere.

Hi all,.
I need to be able to locate and identify a small number of Windows 95(98) computers on a very large network. Once located, they will have the AD client extension pack installed or they will be shut down.
Does anyone know of a program this is able to specifically identify legacy windows operating systems ?
Replies much appreciated. Please let me know if there is a more relevant forum for this question.
