AD without DNS

Greetings:

Im using win server 2003.
My questions are:

1. can I configured AD without using DNS. Can anyone tell me about pros and
cons.
2. Is it OK to use 2 NIC(public and local) for my AD.
3. Can anyone provide me basic configuration or specific websites about AD
that is easy to understand.
4. Can anyone tell me about best practices of implementing AD

Sorry for my intrusion here: Im a newbie to AD.
