Well, I just started from scratch yet again, tried to go through the guide
step by step and I ended up at the same exact spot. I really don't know the
magic configuration to enter and I don't have the time nor inclination to
beat my head into the wall for another day. So, I am now throwing my hands
in the air and saying that this will not work for my organization.
I was given two weeks to look at ADFS and provide a recommendation for
action. My assessment is ADFS looks good on the webcasts and .NET Show, but
I have not bought off on the idea that organizations' network administrations
will collaborate to the degree needed to make this a reality. This coupled
with the fact that I cannot for the life of me get the procedure guide simple
web application to work, I think ADFS is a no-go.
Sorry to hear - but general question. If You are considering deploying
some federation solution - as You probably are because You are testing
ADFS and said in this post that this is two organization scenario - what
will be minimum of collaboration than:
- setting up a software in each organization which can be done independently
- configuring DNS names resolution (which probably is in place already)
- exchanging certs (this can be a tricky part sometimes but with few
certs it should not be though)
- configuring some claims.
I hope You will find more suitable solution for your company and please
send me an update about Your choice here or on my e-mail, I would be
glad to get to know some first hand experience on alternative solutions.
