Thanks for the answer. Should I delete the local user accounts on the PC
before they logon to the domain?

Actually there is no need to do that but I would instead DISABLE
those local accounts to ENSURE that they will not logon to them
by mistake.

Later when all is working delete the accounts.

Also, will the profile show as
D&S\userid.domain for a 2003 AD domain. I have seen some in out test show
as
userid or userid.000

The rules for this are fairly obscure (I cannot quote them
myself) but generally if the directory exists and the name
is needed then the system makes up a new profile directory
name.

If you want to keep their existing profiles you can use the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
registry key and modify the profile location.
Or you can use the copyprofile tool.

We are moving from using local accounts on Windows 2000/XP to an AD
environment. What is the best way to move the users local profile to
the
domain account? We have tried USMT with some success. It does not
seem
to
copy settings such as Windows Firewall and Power Settings. Can we copy
the
users D$S folder to the locally cached profile after they logon to the
domain
or should the local profile becone the Default User Profile for the
computer
they will use?

Thanks
