RE: Directory Services Restore mode problem

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi,

You will need to fix this from DSRM. The DSRM is the only mode where the
AD database does not mount so you are able to work with it and its
configuration offline and since it does not mount you will not receive the
error.

The DSRM password is likely different then your administrator password. It
is the password you first set when you dcpromo'd the machine up to make it
a domain controller.

Hope this helps,

Hi all,
my windows 2000 server has been invaded by malware recently so after a
while i run on it prevx.
But after the reboot i have the following error:
---------
Directory services could not start : A transaction recover failed.
Please reboot into Directory Services Restore Mode, check the event log
for more detailed information.
---------
But now
if i reboot into Directory Services Restore Mode when i try to login i
am unable to login.
so i cant check any event log.
if after the reboot into Directory Services Restore Mode i reboot
again in normal mode i have the same error of Transaction recover
failed.
This happens even if i run in safe mode.
Is there a way to solve this.?
Please advice.
Thanks in advance
f.
