You should create a trust between the domains and grant access to the
mailboxes for the user accounts in the trusted domain. If the mailbox
enabled user objects in the trusting domain aren't used you should disable
them. But make sure you do this the proper way otherwise you'll get a perf
hit on the store, as well as loads of warnings in the event logs. There's a
process re. disabling the account and changing permissions as exchange
treats disabled user objects differently (uses mSExchMasterAccountSid
instead of objectSID) due to the way that ADC works.
