the DN does not contain the logonname (samaccountname). It contains the CN
(take a look with ADSIEdit).

I'm testing out a user restore with windows native tools, and following
these
instructions; http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=840001
I've got the GCDC in DSRM mode and I'm trying to auth restore a user
object
that exists on this box, and it keeps saying it fails on the user name
part
of the DN. I'm restoring a user named "bruce wayne" with the login name
"bwayne." The line I'm entering is
ntdsutil "authoritative restore" "restore object
cn=bwayne,cn=users,dc=hephaestus,dc=ds,dc=com" q q
And no matter what I replace bwayne with, it fails. I HAVE restored the
administrator account though. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?
