Re: Usernames slow to show up in permissions

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

I have seen this happen when there are ports (Believe it or not or fus it
was icmp) being blocked. It eventually times out and moves on. I don't
know if this is your issue but run portqryui from both sides and just see if
there are any blocked ports.

Also check out my website for an article on ports needed.

Select articles and select the NT4 -v- 2003 AD Trust (Link to portqry UI
resides here as well)

On one server especially the user permissions from AD on a DC on a
different
trusted domain are very slow to show up. They are visible as the user ID
(ex. S-1-5-21-12345...). They will usually show up eventually, but if the
user happens to access this folder at the time it is not available they
get
errors.

I am thinking it may be DNS or the domain trust settings. Any
suggestions?
Thanks!
JR
