System stuck at rebuilding index

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi,
We have a server from which we are trying to remove exchange. As a part of
this process we had to remove IIS and reboot the system. That was about an
2 hours ago and since that time it has been displaying the message:

"Active Directory is rebuilding the index. Please wait".

We cannot log to the system. Is this system hung? Should we crash and
reboot the machine? Or ????
