Re: Accounts randomly get locked out

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

take a look
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889000/en-us
http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=3019&eventno=149&source=MRxSmb&phase=1

also take a look at the security event log and search for audit failures, if
this error give you authentication failures, then you have the reason why
your accounst are being loked.

I saw messages like this on DC ( of them over 10 seconds)

The redirector failed to determine the connection type.

TYPE WARNING
EVENT ID 3019 Source MRxSmb

WE had installed VNC on the server, and i notice as well that the VNC
configurator screen shows iteslf saying no password has been assigned.

Int he event is is a network 'storm' or otherwiese, how would i get to
know if this is the case for sure? CAn you direct me to the tool to see a
history by login name, if any?

Thanks!
JAMIE

Hello all

I am having a similar problem. We have a server 2003 standard 1 DC in
domain
of 35 PCs. Occasionally peoples accounts (mine most recent ) seems to
get
locked out ( IAM DOMAIN ADMIN, full rights). Just prior to this
occuring,
i
get network complaints regarding shares not being available for other
users
in the domain. My account seemed to be locked out (I could not log into
my
pc). WE have bridged NICs on the server, and I am suspecting theat the
physical networking may be at play, although I doubt it. Is there any
way
or
tool to see the Active Directory logs (eg. for my user account, what
happened, and what may be the cause of the locked out issue?) When I
went
to
the active directory console, my account gave no indication of being
locked
out or disabled .
Thanks!

I understand there is a tool to log successful and other activity
potentially regarding users trying to log onto the domain. Where can
this
tool be located?

.
