Re: Disaster Recovery Plan for domain with 1 DC
Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry
If my domain controller should go belly up, are there any procedures for
recovering the Active Directory domain database to a server with different
hardware? (Maybe I can't acquire the same make/model). According to what I've
read, the Active Directory database is part of the System State, and
according to KB article 249694, restoring a system state backup to a computer
with different hardware is not supported.
Read this KB:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=263532
I could maintain a backup domain controller, but I really want to avoid that
expense and effort, if possible.
I think that Your basic DR plan should at this moment be to get second
machine acting as DC in this network.
