Upgrade from NT4.0 to AD via Aventail VPN (remotely)

We are finally migrating from NT4.0 Domains to an Active Directory domain.
Most of our employees are not office based and they use the Aventail VPN
product.
We are looking for any suggestions on how we can move the pc's to the new
domain and have the users log in (all without them mailing in their pc's to
the IT group).

It seems that we can join the pc's to the new domain fine over the VPN, but
then after the reboot, we are unable to log in as any domain user - it says
it can not find the domain controller. There does not appears to be any
cached credentials on the system since we just moved it to the AD domain.

Does anyone know of a way to do this & save our IT group the expense of
every user shipping in their system?
