Re: Need help setting up ADAM as ldap server for Mozilla Thunderbird

Hi

the first thing you will need to do is find a copy
of the schema that will define the objects and
attributes that can be created in the LDAP
server. If you can find that then you can load
it into the ADSchemaAnalyzer tool that comes with
ADAM this will allow you to export the schema
in a form that ADAM can import. If you have
an existing LDAP server and want to migrate
you can point ADSchemaAnalyzer at it and
produce an ADAM compatible schema.

Once you have your schema in place then you need to
either export an existing addressbook in LDIF format and
import it into your ADAM instance or add/update the entries
through code/script.

Hello,

I want to achieve the following: I have eight computers that are connected
as a workgroup, all are running Windows XP Pro. Though there is no "real"
server, one of them is used to store all data people are working on. No I
want to setup this pc to act as an ldap server for Thunderbird, to provide
a
global address book for all clients.

However, I don't understand how to import the ldif file exported from
Thunderbird into Adam. To be honest, I don't really understand what I need
to
make Adam work with Thunderbird at all. When I have created an Adam
instance,
how do I add the attributes I need, like email address? Why are there so
many
attributes I don't want? When trying to import an ldif file, there is
always
an error message stating that attributes don't match. When I open the ldif
file, there are entries for email address etc. but in the Adam instance,
there aren't.

Is there any documentation or step-by-step guide available for this?
Surely
I'm not the first one who wants to use Adam for this purpose?
