Re: Forest Transitive Trust

Jorge,
Transitive trust => A trusts B, B trusts C ==>C trusts A.
But external trust, he will have to create trust between A and C.
Regards.
Sorry, I'm french !!!

Hi

Everything sounds good, in resolution method you can use Conditional
forwarding in this scenario and if you need to browse on network places or
if you use apps with NetBIOS resolution you should configure Replication
partners on WINS.

Hello All,

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. For the
past couple years we have been working out the logistics, politics,
etc. with a company that we purchased/joined.

We are ready to begin a network merger. Comany1 will be the central
corporate office (hub) for the rest of the firm and the newly acquired
firm (Company2).

I have been asked to merge both network infrastructures together (as
quickly as possible).

Comany1 is running 2003 Standard.
Company2 is running 2003 Standard

Forest function and domain function levels are at 2003 level in both
forests. We want to establish a transitive trusts for all domains in
both company's so the users can share data, work on the same
projects, etc. I know I will need to establish a 2way forest transitive
trust. With that being said here is the current configuration

Network Overview:

Comany1 has a dedicated T1 to Company2.
There is a firewall both at company1 and company2 (pinging IPs works
both ways)

Company1 is using the 172.0.0.0 subnet
Company 2 is using the 10.3.0.0 subnet

Both forests are using internal DNS and WINS.
Company1 has an empty forest root domain with 4 other domain trees
joined to the existing forest. I have DNS FRW and RVS replicating
forest wide to all domains.
Company2 is basically using the same forest model.

Has anyone gone through this type of procedure and if so any
recommendations? Microsoft has limited step by step configurations and
guidelines for this. I want to make sure I have every step listed and
documented before I begin this.

Thanks in advance,

Rich
