Small update.

I created a new forest&domain and was able to create a 2 way trust
with my current domain.

Installed Exchange 2003 SP2 on it.

Used ADMT v3 to copy a user I created on my real domain to the test
domain. Worked fine. Of course, his mialbox is still on my real
server.
So need I need to use ExMerge to copy the mailbox over the test
server.
When I used ExMerge, I got the following error:

[14:01:40] Copying data from mailbox 'New Forest' ('NEWFOREST') on
Server 'CASTOR-SRVR1' to file 'C:\PST\NEWFOREST.PST'.
[14:01:41] Error opening message store (MSEMS). Verify that the
Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is running and that you
have the correct permissions to log on. (0x8004011d)
[14:01:41] Errors encountered. Copy process aborted for mailbox 'New
Forest' ('NEWFOREST').
[14:01:41] Number of items copied from the source store for all
mailboxes processed: 0
[14:01:41] Total number of folders processed in the source store: 0
[14:01:41] 0 mailboxes successfully processed. 1 mailboxes were not
successfully processed. 0 non-fatal errors encountered.
[14:01:41] Process completion time: 00:00:00

The service is running and the user running ExMerge has full control
on the Exchange System Manager.

Any idea what is wrong?

Simon

The user account you are using must have Send As and Receive As on the info
store properties. You can do that by following the same method that Veritas
BE uses to backup mailbox instances. Basically the way I do it is on the
Administrative Group that the mailbox store is in, go into the Security Tab,
add the user account (I delegate it as well) and give it Full Control on all
instances in the ACL window. Make sure it has Send As and Receive As
Allowed. By default, on Ex 2003, the admin account is denied Send As and
Receive As and cannot be used.

If you don't see the security tab on the Admin Group properties (or anywhere
else in the ESM), goto regedit goto HKCU\Software\Exchange EXADmin, add a
new DWORD called "ShowSecurityPage", and change the value to 1. Now you will
see the sec tab. It's hidden because they want you to use the delegation
wizard, but it is useless for this task.
