No, the default IP site link is just for sites you forget to set up links
for. Its the default. Without it you will have no link until you set it up.

do I need to include every location in the default site link. right now
the only site that belongs to default link is loc1. yes I setup the site
and the subnet after I added the DCs.

Your sites and site links sound fine. I normally set a cost of about 20
with 30 mins replication between VPN connected sites, but its up to you.
I also leave a default link with a cost of 100, so that if my main site
DC is unavailable the other sites can still communicate with each other.
My apologies, you don't need the bridges. You would do that if you had 2
main sites each with satellites and you wanted all the satellite traffic
to go via the bridge between the two main ones. You would then have one
bridge, between the two main sites.
Did you set up the sites and subnets after you had set up the DC's? You
may just need to trigger the topology generator to reconfigure. Have a
look at the replication going on in replmon. You should be able to figure
out the problem from there. You can delete connection objects and let
them be recreated, but I prefer to let it happen automatically. Also each
site DC needs to be a global catalogue. This will change what is being
replicated. Don't do anything drastic. If you have links between each
site and can solve each replication problem the connections will sort
themselves out.

right now I have the following sitelink loc1<->loc2 (sitelink1) ,
loc1<->loc3(sitelink2) , loc1<->loc4(sitelink3) , loc1<->loc5(sitelink4)
, loc1<->loc6(sitelink5) . All of these site link have a cost of 100. I
have also created a site link bridge between sitelink1<->sitelink2,
sitelink1<->sitelink3, sitelink1<->sitelink4, sitelink1<->sitelink5,
sitelink2<->sitelink3, sitelink2<->sitelink4, sitelink2<->sitelink5,
sitelink3<->sitelink4, sitelink3<->sitelink5, and sitelink4<->sitelink5.

Is this the right configuration?
How do I configure the cost of a site link bridge? shouldn't it be the
sum of the cost of the site in the sitelink bridge?

Don't delete anything. Let the topology generator work it out. You need
to set up your main site as a site link bridge, and configure the costs
so that costs to/from the main site are low, and between satellite
sites are high. Then it will figure out that replicating via the main
site is the least cost way to replicate. Be patient.

Hi all
We have six offices through out the country. Loc1 is the head office.
All our remote offices is connected to the main office through VPN. So
the users located in Loc1 can see the resources at loc2, loc3, loc4,
loc5 and loc6 but the remote office can only see resources at loc1. I
want to create a site for each location and for the AD replication, I
want that every site should replicate to Loc1 and then Loc1 can
further replicate it to other sites. So for instance, if a object is
created on loc2 then loc2 should replicate to loc1 and then loc1
should replicate to loc3, loc4, loc5 and loc6. I created the six sites
and also the ip subnet and associated the ip subnets with the
appropriate sites.

The problem right now is that AD has created many connection object
that are linking remote sites. So for instance if I look at the NTDS
property of server1 in loc2, I see connection object with server in
loc3. Obviously the replication is failing because there is no
physical connection between loc2 and loc3.

What would happen if I delete the automatically generated connection
object?

Do I have to create sitelink bridge between the remote locations?

Please help.
