Simon <simon@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> stated, which I commented on below:
Well, the plan is to have them connect on our Exchange server to get
their mails. The Exchange 2000 server in the other domain will be
shutdown.
But I was thinking of creating a second storage group to put those
mailboxes in.
Oh, sorry, yes, that will work fine. You can create identical accounts in
your domain for those users either manually or export/import using CSVDE or
LDIFDE, or even using ADMT (I think would be easier because you can visually
pick and choose) and it will create identical aliases.
No, not the UPN. I mean their mailbox aliases. That can be found in
ADUC in a user's property as long as the Exchange tools are
installed on the DC.
My Exchange server is running on the DC.
When I check the properties of an user, under the Exchange General
tab I see which storage group is used and the alias. This is what
you're talking about?
That's correct. If they have any mail in their mailboxes, once you've
created their identical accounts using their original aliases, you can then
use Exmerge to pull their mail over to the new accounts prior to retiring
the other mail server.
I hope that all makes sense.
