Sorry about the delay in getting back to you I have had other issue to
resolve also. Now when I ran rsop.msc on the system (xp pro) I receive the
following;
Mode - Logging
Username - domain\username
Display User Policy Settings - Yes
Computer Name - Domain\computer name
Details - Invalid Name Space
Also after it had a little think I received the following;
RSoP data is invalid. Likely causes are, data is corrupt, data has been
deleted or data has never been created.

I have create a security group call local admin. In the members section I
add
the user in which I want to grant premissions to install the application.
In
the Members of section I add administrator/build-in. I then logged on and
the
user still has no premissions to add remove software. Thanks for your help

True I was always a fan of adding them to local admin group and
removing

software was installed. but sinice xp upgrade I have tried to add the
user
to
the local admin group but I seem to be unable. It gives me an option to

users from the local system i.e. laptop-xp and does not let me add

- What???!!!, you need to be Domain Admin to install software on a
laptop??
- Don't make your users members of Domain Admins or you can be very

later.
- Making the user member of LOCAL ADMINISTRATORS on the laptop should
be
MORE THAN enough, or use the runas command to install the app on
profile's
users.

Don't do this, if your vendor is pushing you to do this, take my
advice,
and
buy a new App.

I run SBS 2003 as PDC, AD, Exchange, DHCP, Print server etc...
Client is running xp pro and logged on to the domain.
I am trying to install an accounts package but it seems that you

be
an administrator for it too work! Im sure you all heard of this
one
before
but here we go again. I have already added the user to domain
admin
and
administrator group and still they cannot add/remove programs.
