Hi,

I was having similar problems with trying to add a script to map
network drives and map printers for user.

Problem I face was that I need to map printer to a specific floor in
building as each floor had different printer.

Doing a search on download sites I found a software program that helped
me save a lot of time, which saved company money. The software has
given me more time back and given me a greater control of computer
network. This has been achieved by creating profiles that I have
assigned to different business units.

I would recommend that you have a look at software and let me know if
you have any question or problems. I have fined tuned the software now
and it working very well.

when I log on as test user I do not get my mapped drive....?

Re: setting the shortcut on the local machine. May sound dumb, but I'd
have to map the drive manually on the local machine before I could create the
shortcut so I'm not clear on that step. the machines have no mapping which
is why I'm trying to send it out via GP.

I'm so frustrated right now. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A profile does not seem to run when you use a policy on an Organizational
Unit. The default domain policy will run, but has its limits. So you can't
add a desktop shortcut that way.

You can add a logon script in the policy. An example is found:

Make sure you have the shortcut.vbs in the proper replicating folder.

Seconded, you can also add the shortcut on the local computer in the "all
users" documents and settings.

Group Policy (done on an OU) Or as a Logon Script for the user done in the
