G'day all
I need to get rid of the last two windows 2000 DCs in our network (one is
the PDC) . I'm going through the Article ID 325379.
It appears that adprep has been run but I'm not sure if it was run only on
the domain and not on the forest.
Is there any way to tell what has already been done? (we have some 2003
servers that were rolled out before I got here).
One of the things the article says to perform is
"Verify that the adprep /forestprep command successfully ran on the schema
operations master. To do so, from the console of the schema operations
master, verify the following items:
The adprep /forestprep command completed without error.
The CN=Windows2003Update object is written under
CN=ForestUpdates,CN=Configuration,DC=forest_root_domain. Record the value of
the Revision attribute."
Now I'm looking at the schema using MMC and there is no CN=ForestUpdates
therefore no CN=Windows2003Update object. ???? Does this mean a forestprep
hasn't been run?
My plan was to demote the two 2000 DCs and replace them with two new 2003
DC's (there other DC's at other sites in the same doamin that are already
2003.
I'm having a bit of trouble finding info directly relative to the way I want
to go so if someone could point me at some articles or advise me of the
process I need to follow to avoid any gotchas.
I look forward to any help anyone can give.
Thanks
regards
Mark
